Dirk Paelinck (EU PropTech Association) & Rudy Aernoudt (European Commission)
09:00 - 09:30

The EU Green Deal has been signed off by the Member States in 2020 and promises to accelerate the exponential growth of PropTech even more, as it needs to be translated into guidelines, directives, policies and laws regulating real estate in the very near future. On top of this great news for European PropTech now comes the new Bauhaus Europe acting as an additional accelerator for European PropTech. This new European Bauhaus is a transformational project translating the EU Green Deal into a human centred, tangible experience. Concentrated around three dimensions: sustainability, quality of experience and inclusion (including affordability). Finally, by supporting the development of a coordinated array of unique programs such as the European Space Agency’s PropTech Kickstart, the @Smart Building Certification initiative or the @Relevation Fundraising Summit , the European PropTech Association will take EU PropTech to a level of unprecedented quality and scale.

@Dirk Paelinck & @Rudy Aernoudt will talk about the implications of the EU Green deal & Bauhaus Europe as well as the specific needs for financing these new property technologies.

Roundtable sessions
Roundtable sessions
AECOM Benelux | Repurposing of buildings
11:30 - 12:15

Extensive description:
It’s a pivotal time for our industry. Unprecedented change and uncertainty has accelerated our workplaces into the future, while still leaving many questions unanswered. We have brought together a panel of speakers from the different parts of the commercial workplace ecosystem – occupiers, service providers, brokers… to come together to tackle the hard questions; and share their views on where we’re headed and what actions / decisions we’d have to make in the upcoming months.

We will also break down the session into the three broad topic areas – and also explore how experience from ASIA can inform EMEA:

Occupier Demand
• By 2025, 50% of the population in Asia will be Millennials and Gen Z – how has or will this shape workplace expectations?
• Has the pandemic changed what occupiers expect from landlords e.g. base build provision, lease terms and conditions?
Shape of the Commercial Workplace Sector
• With the demise in retail space and now office space - what is the future of our buildings? • How will the “supply chain” of our industry change and what components will remain distinct or merge?
• The pace of change in our industry is typically slower than both technological and organisational rate of change. How will we keep up as an industry?

Local VS Global
• What's the validity of global design guidelines / standards in the future of workplaces?
• Does local culture really affect workplace design? How do you avoid just cosmetic / aesthetic touches?

Facilio | Accelerating Smart Building Success
11:30 - 11:55

Energy retrofits/upgrades (Lighting, HVAC, sensors) to restore design-optimal performance
Connecting existing systems to aggregate, and analyze real-time building data (analytics, FDD, retro commissioning, etc.). Software-driven optimizations (occupant-based controls, dynamic schedules, portfolio automation, etc.) as force multipliers of building performance at scale

High Rise Ventures | Energy transition in existing buildings
14:30 - 14:55

What solutions are available? What kind of challenges exist? What kind of strategy is needed? What are best practices?

AECOM | Decarbonizing Real Estate
14:30 - 14:55

In the year of COP26, the focus of all sectors needs to be on decarbonizing the built environment.

In this session we will discuss technical solutions that need to be considered to effectively decarbonize real estate, the business case for decarbonization, and how this can lead to enhanced valuations.

An empowering new approach to building operations is unlocking the next wave of value creation for real estate owners and operators. The future will require commercial real estate players to depart from the status quo by transcending traditional, reactive ways of operations to a more proactive, data-driven model.
A step change is on the horizon with a focus on the cloud-based unified management of building operations that evolve the ways in which operators benefit from intelligence-led cost improvement and occupants benefit from personalized, superior experiences. Underpinning these use cases to a successful connected, smart, and sustainable built environment requires merging elements of IoT, AI, and Cloud capabilities.
